Welcome Back Adam Jones
It wasn’t long ago that we were writing about Adam Jones being reinstated for the first time, yet here we are again, writing about the same topic. Only this time there’s a media storm brewing which will be impossible to avoid for the next day or three and, crazy as this might sound, I can’t help but feel a bit sorry for Jones.
For what ever reason, the media has jumped all over Roger Goodell and Adam Jones. These “experts” don’t understand why a “vile” person like Adam Jones should get another chance to play in the NFL. They can’t understand why Goodell went soft and, just to drive the point home, they don’t know why Adam Jones isn’t in prison.
If you ask me, this is nothing more than the media circus creating a sideshow to kill time between Fat Head commercials.
Point in case, the man has made mistakes and was obviously struggling with a disease. I mean if his name weren’t Adam Jones and he didn’t play in the NFL, we might have seen his story as a feature on A&E’s Intervention. But alas, he’s a high profile athlete and the world’s watching his every move.
He complied with all instructions for treatment and, regardless of what you think, that’s a very big deal. It takes strength to admit you’ve got a problem and going away for treatment isn’t easy. Sure it was only thirty days, but a month without alcohol for a someone with a drinking problem can feel like an eternity. Having met the demands placed upon him, Jones was reinstated by Goodell and should be playing within the next few weeks.
My question for everyone is this. Do you agree with the reinstatement?
It’s pretty obvious where I stand, and yes I know its a minority opinion. I’ve got to close this out with a rare helping of MAD LOVE for Roger Goodell, because he stuck to his word and is inevitably going to get killed in the media for doing so.
